Staged for the high work
Scaffolding on a siding repaint
What an East Cobb exterior takes
East Cobb runs from two-story traditionals in Indian Hills to newer executive homes near Johnson Ferry Road. Many share a profile: tall walls, several rooflines, and a lot of exterior wood. The paint itself is rarely the hard part. Reaching every surface safely and getting the wood sound before it is coated is.
Four kinds of exterior wood set the prep hours on these houses, and how well they are prepared decides how the finished house looks from the street. That is why our estimates list carpentry and caulking as separate line items: two houses of the same size can need very different amounts of both, and a lump sum would hide the difference.
Shutters
A two-story front can carry shutters on both floors, and louvered shutters have dozens of slats to clean, scrape, and coat, so a full set takes far longer to prep and paint than a plain wall of the same size.
Dentil trim
The row of small blocks under the cornice has an edge and a gap at every block, so a dentil cornice takes far longer to prep and paint than plain trim of the same length.
Columns
Porch columns take water at the base, where the end grain soaks it up. Rotted wood is replaced and the seams caulked before priming, so the column is sound before it looks new.
Multi-gable fascia
Several rooflines mean several runs of high fascia and rake board, often at the top of a two-story wall, which is where the staging time goes. Fascia is checked for rot before any paint goes on.
Colors, sheens, and how long a repaint lasts on any metro Atlanta house are covered on our main exterior painting page.

Carpentry Services & Repair
Rotted fascia, sills, column bases, and trim boards replaced before paint, and listed as carpentry on the estimate.

Power Washing
Every wall washed of dirt, mildew, and chalk first, so the new coats bond to sound paint on the shaded sides of wooded lots.

Deck Painting & Staining
Back decks and porch floors cleaned and stained or painted, quoted as part of the same exterior job if you want them done together.
How an exterior repaint runs
On a tall house the plan starts with access: proper staging and ladder safety for two- and three-story elevations, including gables and high fascia. Your landscaping is protected before anyone climbs.
Full exterior repaints typically take 3 to 6 days depending on the size of the house, the prep it needs, and the weather. The timeline is in your written estimate, and the site is cleaned up at the end of every day.

Weather, timing, and where we work in East Cobb
Cobb County summers bring heat and heavy humidity, and spring brings a coat of pollen on every horizontal surface. Spring through fall is the ideal window for an exterior, and within it the crew watches temperature and humidity day by day so each coat cures as it should. More on how the climate here treats paint is in our guide to how Georgia’s climate affects exterior painting.
Our crews work every day in Roswell, Sandy Springs, and Marietta, so East Cobb is a short drive and a free walkthrough is usually possible within 24 hours. For interior work and every other service we offer here, see our East Cobb house painters page.

December 2025
Dunwoody Painters did an exceptional job on the exterior of our house. There was a lot of wood repair and they did a very thorough job of replacing , caulking and painting those areas. In addition , they painted metal roofing, cedar shingles , trim , and stained a pergola. The painters showed up every morning on time, were very neat and were easy to work with. I will definitely use Dunwoody Painters again for my future painting needs.

Dunwoody Painters did a beautiful job painting and pressure washing my home. They also went above and beyond the original scope of work - consulting with us every step of the way to be sure we were taken care of. Highly recommend them and will definitely be a return customer!

East Cobb exterior painting FAQs
What East Cobb homeowners ask before the walkthrough. Anything else, call (678) 737-6776.
Yes, routinely. Staging and ladders, used with proper safety practice, reach every two- and three-story elevation, including gables and high fascia.
Yes. Soft wood on fascia, sills, columns, and trim is cut out and replaced first, then primed, because paint over rot fails along with the wood underneath. The boards that need replacing are listed on the estimate under carpentry, separate from the painting.
Full exterior repaints typically take 3 to 6 days, depending on the size of the house, how much prep and carpentry it needs, and the weather. A larger East Cobb home with a lot of trim sits toward the longer end. Your written estimate includes the expected timeline.
Spring through fall is ideal. The crew watches temperature and humidity through the job and works around rain so each coat cures properly, and pollen season is worth planning around because fresh paint holds whatever lands on it.
Yes. The work happens outside, so you can stay home while the crew paints. If your deck is part of the job, keep off it until the coating dries, typically 24 to 48 hours. Crews protect your landscaping, keep the site tidy, and clean up at the end of every day.
A clear, line-by-line quote with the colors, products, and timeline. Carpentry and caulking are itemized separately rather than folded into one total, so you can see exactly what the wood on your house needs.
